On 24th April, another tragic incident occurred in the waters of Hode river under Brahma and Police police station limits in Udupi. It has been reported that a boat capsized while a group of seven were hunting for oysters, resulting in the drowning of four individuals while the other three managed to swim to shore.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Faizan, Ibad, and Suffan, and Farhan, all residents of neighboring Sringiri and aged between 20 to 22 years. The bodies of three individuals have been recovered, while the search for the fourth is still ongoing.

As news of the incident spread, a large number of people gathered near the river, many of whom helped in the search for the drowned individuals with the aid of boats. The incident occurred during Eid holiday when some youths from Sringeri had come to visit their relatives in Hude for entertainment.

A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station in relation to the incident. The tragic incident has once again highlighted the need for increased safety measures and precautions while undertaking such activities in water bodies.
