Bikers in coastal Karnataka are requesting an exemption from helmet laws due to the extreme heat the area is currently experiencing. With temperatures soaring to record highs, many riders are finding it unbearable to wear helmets.

According to weather reports from Weather.com, Bhatkal experienced a temperature of 31 degrees in the morning, which rose to 34 degrees by evening. Nighttime temperatures also remain high, ranging from 26 to 28 degrees.

The high temperatures have made it uncomfortable for many people in the region, with bikers suffering the most due to the added heat that comes with wearing a helmet. Many bikers are now petitioning for an exemption from the helmet rule, citing concerns about dehydration and heatstroke.

However, road safety experts warn that helmets are an essential safety measure that should not be compromised, even in hot weather. They argue that head injuries resulting from bike accidents pose a higher risk than the risk of heatstroke.

The government has yet to comment on the matter, but it is expected that a decision will be made soon. In the meantime, some bikers are opting to wear lighter helmets or headscarves to stay cool while still complying with the law.

The heatwave is expected to continue for the next few days, and people are being advised to take precautions such as staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun. The public is also encouraged to remain vigilant about the risks associated with high temperatures, especially during outdoor activities.
